#40 Monday Morning Coffee Post
We live in a world where
trust is becoming an increasing rarity. It use to be that you’d always have to
apply common sense when dealing with the world and with people. Now we are
taught to directly distrust others before they have proven themselves trustworthy.
We look suspiciously over our shoulders as being followed or targeted. With
look suspiciously at the neighbors doors and windows to try and foretell
whether they are living by the same rulebook as us or pose a danger. Or maybe we aren't
living by the rulebook and maybe they will rat us out. We don't trust our
workplace cause we know they are in it for the money and at our expense if it
comes down to it. We don't trust our colleagues cause they might cut a head of us,
if they had the chance. We frantically worry to try and make sure that we see
the next attack coming.
It is tiring just to write
this and I know how much more tiring it is to live it. Who do you trust? I mean
really trust! Your family? which friend or friends if you're lucky? Anyone else? Do you barricade yourself? Maybe even in each
others company, making allies against the rest of the world? Or do you breathe and
nervously step out there trying not to shut down, not to let this fear based
culture get the best of you?
